Silverstone has agreed a new contract to host the British Grand Prix until 2040, extending a relationship that began with the first world championship race in May 1950.

The deal was announced jointly by Formula 1 and the British Racing Drivers' Club and includes commitments to further spectator infrastructure at the Stowe and Club ends of the circuit.

"This is the home of the sport and it needs to feel like it," said BRDC chair Stuart Pringle. "Fourteen years of certainty means we can plan properly rather than year to year."

A calendar under pressure

With 24 races and a queue of new venues, long-term contracts have become the currency of calendar security. Silverstone drew 480,000 spectators across the 2026 weekend, the highest attendance of any round.
